Bead And Button Show 2009

FINALLY POSTED! (Sorry for the delay)
***
Millions and millions of beads. Glass beads, plastic breads, wooden beads. Some made from bone, some with liquid glitter inside. Some were hand carved, some blown glass. Some stamped, some baked. Some were made of resin, some were photo etched onto metal. The Bead & Button Show at the Midwest Airlines Center in downtown Milwaukee is the largest bead and button show in the world and I can understand why there is such a hype.

When we got there, it was all I could do to not fall over with amazement of all they beautiful shiny things. Some were displayed individually on specially made racks, others were layed out on tables by the thousands. It would make anyone with a creative mind want to jump up and make beautiful things. We talked to quite a few manufacturers and vendors and found some new product lines that we are looking into carrying. Some are pre-formed kits and some are individual sets of beads and findings.

We will absolutely be back next year for more and we encourage anyone who is able to make the trip also.

You can click HERE to see some of the photos we took.

Kenosha Train Show 2009

This was our first time at this show and, for being as small as it was, had quite a few people there and plenty of new ideas to share. Midwest Rails (G Scale) had the great idea to use cut tree branches to resemble cut trees in a logged area of a forest. They also used copper sheeting or copper leaf on the roof of a building...it looked incredibly realistic.

Lego made a return to shows!

Lake County Society of Model Engineers had a module that had a dug out section and put in thick gray plastic or foam sheets to represent a foundation of a building at a construction site. They had HO narrow gauge running on the upper section.

Milwaukee N Trak had a large display.

Northwest N-Trak Club from Bensenville, IL (T-Trak Division) was a layout we'd never seen before. They had a great idea to use a Clementine orange box and made an orange grove out of one inch Styrofoam balls pegged on wood dowels then flocked with green flocking and added a few tiny orange beads.

The Milwaukee Electric Railway and Transit Historical Society was running an "O" scale interurban railway.

And for $0.50 you could even take a trip back in time and ride the streetcars!

The show was small, but for free, we got some great photos and ideas to share with you!<---------CLICK HERE TO SEE PHOTOS!
